Having personally suffered with migraine / tension headaches, anxiety and panic attacks, Mim McCann knows all too well the benefits of massage and how Swedish massage in particular can have a positive outcome by decreasing the symptoms of these debilitating conditions.
Mim took her love of Swedish massage further and gained a Distinction in Level 3 Swedish Body Massage at Chichester College and is passionate about helping others who may be suffering in pain.
Swedish massage is a specialised form of massage, established in 18th century Sweden. Benefits include:
· Improves circulation
· Eases muscle tension
· Evokes relaxation
· Improves flexibility
· Increases oxygen levels in blood
· Aids the efficiency of the immune system
· Reduces muscle toxins
· Reduces the stress hormone serotonin
Primarily Swedish massage aims to relax the entire body, and may help to calm the mind thus providing an overall sense of relaxation and wellbeing.
What to expect
In a typical session, we would discuss your needs and expectations then work to a general routine which will be tweaked and tailored to the requirements and areas of tension. Additional techniques maybe used to target problems areas such as headaches; a scalp (head and face) massage may have considerable benefits and can be included or added to your treatment. Oils or creams will be used to suit and there will be several towels available to allow you to feel comfortable and secure. The room is warm and cosy with suitable music played to enhance a relaxing environment. At the end of the session an assessment is offered with tips and advice for aftercare.
